Golf Course Design and Construction
During the fall 2006 GolfInc. Conference at Amelia Island, Florida, Richard moderated a general panel discussion called Golf Course Design and Construction. The session was the third in a series called the Development Boot Camp. Richard’s discussion was developed to guide the developer through the course design and construction phases from selection of an architect to managing the actual course construction.
Developers learned the full range of what an architect brings to the table, and how that meshes with the construction team to fulfill the developer’s vision for the golf course. Specific topics also included designing for course maintainability down the road and how to build a strong design/construction team as well as tips for avoiding conflicts, saving money, and managing the design/construction flow.
Richard gave a variation of this talk at the Golf Inc Conference in April of 2006 held in La Quinta, California and the September of 2006 conference held in Amelia Island, Florida.
